Hi! We're Terry Cox and Karen Scales, owners of Heritage Trail Cafe and Coffee Roaster. We have been roasting small batch coffee since 2011. We started by selling our coffee at the Owen Valley Farmers Market and the Owen Valley Winery. We live just outside Ellettsville on a small farm with our crazy cat and 3 guineas. Terry loves cooking, especially southwestern dishes which gives him an opportunity to experiment with different spices and peppers. He also makes "Kow Killer" Habanero Mustard and Peach Habanero sauces which we'll be selling at the cafe soon. Karen spent the last 35 years working for an architect, as well as owning and operating Scales Farm Cabins for the past 10 years.
Hi, I'm Leslie Sommer. I was born and raised in Ellettsville and have worked in and around Spencer, Ellettsville and Bloomington for the past 20 years. I have a small berry and pig farm and am a huge supporter of local farmers and local businesses.
I met Terry and Karen at the Owen County Farmers market where they had a farm stand and sold heirloom vegetables, hot sauce and small batches of fresh roasted coffee beans. I have experience working as a barista in the past so it seemed like a natural fit for me to work and support the opening of The Heritage Trail Cafe. Go local!!
Hi, I'm Hank Phillips. I am also from Ellettsville, IN. I am a full time student at Indiana University pursuing a public affairs degree with a focus on human resources management and also getting minor in Spanish. In my free time I enjoy running, cycling, drawing, and of course drinking and making coffee!
For as long as I can remember I've had a passion for coffee and espresso, and now I am excited to carry this passion over into my work at Heritage Trail Cafe and Coffee Roasters.
